On October 6, Vote Dave Nickle for Peterborough MPP

Dave NickleThroughout his life, Dave Nickle has demonstrated a commitment to making Peterborough stronger through his work and extensive community activities.

Born in Peterborough and raised in Toronto, Dave received his B.A. in History and Physical Health Education from the University of Western Ontario, an Honours B.A. from York University and a B. Ed. from the University of Toronto. Dave supported himself throughout his schooling by working a variety of jobs from construction, landscaping and waiting tables, to working on oil-rigs and CNR track. These experiences gave Dave an early understanding and appreciation of the hard-work and sacrifices that millions of Canadians make to support their families, along with a dedication to ensuring that all people are treated with respect and fairness.

After teaching in Scarborough for nearly ten years, Dave and his wife Nancy chose to move their children, Ryan and Kayla, to Peterborough where Dave taught at Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School for 21 years before retiring in June, 2011.

Dave has held various positions within the Ontario Secondary Schools Teachers Federation, including service as President for District 14. Most recently he served as Provincial Councillor for District 14 and an Executive Member of the Peterborough and District Labour Council. He is an active member of the Peterborough Health and Electricity coalitions and a campaigner for electoral reform. He is a member of the board of directors of the Community Legal Centre and a social and labour activist.

Dave has the experience – and the commitment – to represent Peterborough.
